Please join Gamelan Angklung Manik Kusuma at MSU Denver for an afternoon of music and dance from Bali, Indonesia featuring special guests, Gamelan Tunas Mekar.
Gamelan Tunas Mekar has performed by special invitation both internationally and nationally, and performs regularly at music festivals, schools, private events and specially produced concerts throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
Based in Denver, Gamelan Tunas Mekar is a community orchestra under the direction of Music at MSU Denver faculty member, Made Lasmawan (noted Balinese composer and Artist-in-Residence for the ensemble). Tunas Mekar will be performing their Gamelan Semaradana set for the 2019 Bali Arts Festival, featuring a world premiere composition by Ade Wijaya (Catur Guru) and compositions by Lasmawan.
